Time to clean my hunting guns.

Good job! I'm headed to the interior this weekend, hopefully find some WT and/or a Mulie to put in the freezer. Won't get anything close to the size of that elk though!

Practice always pays off!! I fired 3 shots at game this year, and harvested 3 animals.
But I probably fired in excess of 250 rounds at paper over the summer and early fall.
At least 120 of those were at targets from 3-500 meters.

I know that a one-shot, quick kill is the desire of all on here who hunt. It does not
always work perfectly, but when it does, it's a good feeling.
Thanks all for the kind, upbuilding comments. Dave.

Not sure where you are headed but very wet and cold at night in the north-central part right now.

Congrats Dave.I wish I was that lucky this fall. I was hunting elk as well. Although I didnt get anything, I did call back and forth with a bull for a couple nights before he presented himself. I was in shock at the size of this beast. It was too long of a shot to be comfortable.
I did cross the river the next day, only to find that the wind was not in my favour. My calling might have been a little off too. Im still a little new to this. End of story, he called back for a lil bit that morning and then let out a weird call, only to warn the others. The visible cows then disappeared, and he stopped bugling.

Well, Elk steaks for dinner this evening....un...be...lieve....able!!! Cut with a fork, tasty and just
plain scrumptious. We will dine well this winter. [BTW, not trying to rub it in, just had to share.]

Every time I eat Elk, I am reminded why they are so high on my gourmet meats list.

Moose is very, very good, but Elk is just that little bit better! :) Regards, Dave.

Congrats, Dave... feels good to fill the freezer with good meat... the dry doe and cow should be excellent eating.
