I just called one of our dealers on here today to ask the price of "cheap" target shotshells, and I was told it was $90.00 for a flat(250 rounds) of Federals. I think we all need to stop buying shells if they are going to try and sell them at these prices. Lead is down to .40 cents from $1.80, so how do they figure they can still sell them at these prices? I paid $65.00 a few months ago for the same shells, and I thought that was a rip off. I for one will not be paying $9.00 a box for target laods.

The price of lead has little to do with the price of ammo. Taxes, the exchange rate, shipping costs, etc do.

The price of lead is .40 cents which is way down from $1.80 a few months back. Even a few months ago, you could get a flat of shells for $65.00 when the price of lead was high. I was told that the price increase a few months ago was due to the high cost of lead, brass etc. Not due to taxes, exchange rates, or shipping cost. If anything shipping should be a bit cheaper, as even gas has come down in price.

As I understand it, the value of ALL metals is WAAY down, including brass, lead and copper. It has gone on a downward spiral as with the value of most other commodities. Why the hell are we still paying PREMIUM ++++++ for Ammo???? :bangHead: Oh shipping? GAS is WAAY down to below '06 levels too... Even back then most of my ammo was at least 30% cheaper than it is now! Im hoping prices will drop accordingly, and Im not buying any more untill it does!
End Rant.

X2!

Shotshell reloading had been way down the past number of years because factory ammo cost just a little more than reloads. If the price of shot comes back down it seems that reloading shotshells may again become economic.

I try to support the sponsors whenever possible. Unfortunately it seems some are taking advantage of our patronage. It seems to be a case of greedy fear mongering to me and those I talk to. I stopped supporting the ammo sales a while ago.

Marstar: this does not apply to you :)

Is it possible the dealer quoted you a price for Federal Gold Medal Premiums? $90 for flat of Federal Top Gun is about 50 per cent more than what local dealers around here are charging but not entirely out of line for the premium GM shells.

I shoot factory ammo and reload. What I noticed was that when lead prices went up shot prices followed immediately but ammo took a while to catch up. Now it appears the reverse is happening.

$16 for 9mm, $18 for .40 and $28 for .45 all locally.

This is getting Fing ridiculous. I went in to buy some .357 Sig and that they had for $35/box and even those are sold.

I'm putting the guns down for a while.
