Well my favorite load in my .280 is using 140 grain accubonds. The problem is I've run out of them and nobody local has them. I've tried wholesale, BPS, proline, TSE and caroline supplies.

So I'm considering switching to a Barnes TTSX and I'm wondering which one. The 120 grain will give me flatter ballistics to 500 yards, but it looks like it runs out of steam so fast, it has 200 ft/lbs less energy than my 140 grain Abond would have at 500. Where I hunt long shots are probable, but you can't discount the chance of a close shot.

How about the accuracy of the Barnes? My rifle loves the 140 Abond like you would not believe.
 
There must be a dealer on this forum you can ask, shipping is next to nothing on bullets.If you need a hand give me a PM. I should be able to find some for ya, not that I am a dealer, just don't mind helping a guy.
 
I would just order some accubonds if they work well. Unless you feel like working up a new load, and they may not work! Personally I have not had luck with the TTSX but have had good luck with the TSX.

I work in a gun store, Nosler is behind on their production schdule and probably won't be ready to ship these bullets till mid/end of august. With opener being Aug 25th I don't wanna risk not having any ammo lol.

If anybody knows of a dealer with stock on .284 140 grain Accubonds please let me know!

Well if you think AB's are hard to find, wait until you try and get Barnes bullets locally. I use a combination of AB's (yes, they shoot incredibly well in several of my guns also) and TSX's for my higher velocity caliber hunting loads. Our local WSS has a total of 10 boxes ( that's for all calibers, bullet weights,etc.) and our other local store has zero here on Vancouver Island! On a recent trip through the mainland and interior, I hit four other outlets with much the same results. My next step will be mail order from Corlanes, Epps, etc. which gets expensive when you start mailing bullets.

Last time I got AB's it was from Doug Rainer I think his name is. Someone around here has to have his info. When everyone was out I bought six boxes from him!
 
Barnes Accuracy

Barnes bullets tend to either work super accurately or not well at all!
Many problems with conventional bullets just vanish with a monolithic bullet.
Accuracy probably depends on whether or not the barrel fouls a lot.

I would stick with the Accubonds. Sounds like you have an excellent load developed and I wouldn't switch. I use a lot of Accubonds and find them to be as tough as necessary and incredibly accurate. Just put in an order for them.
 
200 yards from my .280. I'd say they work just fine ;)
