Howdy,
I am comtemplating changing my trigger in my mauser 96 (carl gustav). I am tempted to go with a timney trigger. Can I keep my original "swing" type safety with it? From what I understand, there are 2 available models in the "sportsman" series of trigger that will fit with a m96: One with integral safety and one without (eg: You get to keep your original "swing" type safety).

Did I get that right?

Cheers,

Fish

Any idea how much it would cost to get the actual trigger + installation fees? Trigger itself seems to be around 54$ on several sites I've checked (all US though), but I have no idea how much it would cost to have a gunsmith install it.

You could do it yourself it is held on with one pin. I did mine in less than 5 minutes after I had my gun disassembled. You may have to adjust the trigger pull to suit yourself.

Brownell's will ship if it's under $100 (it is), and Western Gun parts in Edmonton usually has them in stock - that's where mine came from. Your gunsmith can usually get it for you at the same price you could buy it. Estimate $30-$50 labour charge for a gunsmith to install.

I put a timney on mine..had to inlet the stock to clear it. IMHO..I'd go that route now in case down the road you want to put a scope on it.
I bought mine from mystic player here...great guy to deal with and great customer service.
