Timney Trigger Issues

I ordered a new Timney Trigger for a Wby Mark V and I'm having issues with it. It was set at factory to about a 2.5lb pull weight. Got the trigger installed and it slam fires every time I close the bolt, even gently. So I increased to maximum pull weight which helped a little but not enough. Beyond adjusting the pull weight I would rather not tinker with sear engagement. Had this problem before where max pull weight doesn't do it?

It sounds like it needs more sear engagement.

I am surprised that a trigger from Timney would require adjustment to the sear engagement just to work properly i.e. not slam fire every time

The sear is what you should have adjusted not the weight.

Did it give problems right out of the box before adjusting it?

yeah that is my point...it was slam firing right out of the box. Not a safe trigger from "factory set". In any case I took the loctite off and properly adjusted sear engagement and it works as it should now
