Tips for making a harder lead alloy.

Tin is fine if you want to pay out the ass to harden your lead slightly. I have a few hundred pounds of shot salvaged from Federal Top Gun shells. The two reliable sources I have found are contradictory. One says it's nearly the hardest commercial shot and the other says it's nearly the softest! Argh...

1 to 10 led/tin ratio is an old method to get reasonably hard alloy for handgun projectiles... 350 grain 45-70 might be a bit fast for this alloy unless you use gas checks in my mind...

So i got the lead to slightly harden but not much. Going to look for sone wheel weights.

Anither question. If i use the lead i have with a gas checked bullet could i use this softer lead amd push it a little faster

just finished casting some bullets. BHN16.6 after water quench. BHN 14 after powder coating and water quenching.

should reach max hardness in a fed days, will have to test next week
