Tips for my new S&W and me

I’m looking for some advice, on shooting and caring for my new S&W 13-2.
My dad jest gave it to me it’s a custom built 357Mag with a heavy target barrel and target sites. I am rather new to hand guns, and I love it so far

The gun is setup for double action only
I use 38special only

That sounds like a very nice revolver you've got. It shouldn't require a lot of care--just a light coat of gun oil or similar product on the outside and in the bore and chambers before you put it away (just remember to clean the bore and chambers out before you take it shooting again). It's a K frame so it should have a really nice trigger pull--since it's set up for target shooting already it may have had some work done on the trigger to make it even better. You should pick up a few speedloaders and head to the range! The thing I find for best double-action shooting is to maintain constant grip pressure throughout the whole trigger pull--let us know how it shoots (and maybe post some pictures, too!)

Hollow base wadcutters can be incredibly accurate in a prepped K Frame - all the way out to 50 yards. Watch for leading around the forcing cone and fouling in the charge holes and if you do use 357's make sure you clean the pistol before using them. I would stick to 38 cases though. Shooting 38 target wadcutter reloads can be as cheap as shooting a 22, but much more rewarding.
