Hi there, purchased a used Rem 700 titanium, pretty happy with the rifle except cycling the action is like nails on a chalk board. It squeals, and since this is to be my timber gun , not really cutting it. Is this common? Any cures? Was thinking ceracote or some other finish. Any input appreciated ,
Thanks

It's common to the 700 titaniums, and it's not the titanium as commonly thought. It's that they never polished the bolt bodies. The fluted them and blasted them, but if you look at them closely, you still see the machining marks. To prove this is the cause, put your ti bolt in a standard steel 700 action and it will make the same noise, and the standard bolt in your ti action won't whistle.

A little white lithium grease on the bolt body, and the lugs and inside the bolt threads... makes a world of difference.
