Anyone have any experience loading .357's or .38's with titegroup? Anything I should look out for? Looking at using small pistol primers, but is this powder too peaky for these rounds?

Thanks,
Trevor

No, I've used it in both, campro projectiles. 357,158 g campro projectiles and 5.4 - 6.1 tight group . Can't remember my 38 special as I give up using those.

I load .38sp for cowboy action shooting using 3.1gr of Titegroup under 158 gr lead cast RNFP from DRG. It works great in both my single action revolvers and my lever rifle.

I've loaded and shot thousands of .38Spl loads using both cast bullets for cowboy action and plated bullets for my S&W revolvers. It's my "go to" powder for this use. It's not too peaky at all. In fact it's very much like Bullseye in that it tolerates lots of empty space in the casings and is not position sensitive to the powder.

I load 130gn LRNFP and 125gn Berry's and Campro plated without issue. I use the lighter bullets to hold the cost down a little. 3.6gns for both gives me a stouter load than I need for cowboy action but at least I know I'm shooting a real gun. And for IDPA this much powder easily meets the power requirement for Stock Service Revolver.

I also use it for my 9mm loads from summer to winter. Despite the temperature changes it cycles the guns very consistently.

In short it's a great powder for non Magnum loading needs. For proper Magnum loads I prefer H110 or Alliant 2400 for the big flame show that I get with these loads. It's not that Titegroup won't push the bullets at Magnum velocities. Just that I like to add a bit of a show with these loads.

Titegroup it is! I'm only looking to load mouse farts really, maybe some regular .357 mag as well, but like mentioned above I'll get a different powder for the full power loads, I like to see the big flame myself!

Thanks everyone
Trevor

I love Titegroup for low velocity, but even for regular loads, there are much better choices IMHO. If you're going to run the pressure up that much, why not use a slower powder to get that slug going an extra 200-300 fps?
