Hi all,

Bought a TNW ASR a few weeks ago and took it out to the range for the first time yesterday. Put around 40 rounds downrange no issue. Locked the action open, put a fresh mag in but the action refused to close. Now it is completely stuck open. Could only partially break it down as the action being locked open precludes the bolt being removed (or at least I don't know of a way). Anyone experienced this type of problem, before I have to send the rifle back?

Thanks

The bolt holds open on the large set screw that comes down through the top rail and acts as a guide for the bolt in the receiver..... is it hanging up on that bolt guide somehow? Can you rotate the bolt? Is there any movement?

It is actually hung up in the groove for locking the action open. It will not rotate down to allow the action to close. There is a small amount of movement but not enough to release the action and it also causes the bolt to shift slightly, making it appear to be slightly out of alignment with the upper receiver tube. Since the action has to be closed to take the bolt handle off, thereby allowing the bolt to slide out, I cannot break it down fully to examine the bolt / carrier to see if there is any obvious damage.

Do you see the two large black hex head bolts going down through the top pica tinny rail of the receiver?

Those are the bolt guides and the one at the back is what the bolt rests on when you rotate it into the bolt hold open slot. The slot only allows you to rotate the bolt handle up.....

Check and see if the bolt guides are loose? Maybe the rear one has shifted down somehow and is jamming it up?
Be careful working on it as it could fly forward at any time..... might want to remove the buffer tube and take the recoil spring tension out of the equation.

It's also quite possible that your buffer tube is adjusted forward too much and causing the jam... was it easy to lock the bolt back?
Removing the buffertube will solve that issue.
