I remember one came up a few months ago with I think 1000 rounds for $3,750. Seemed like a good deal but I had just bought a HS-50 and the bank account was hurting. Just wondering how many are there in Canada and how often do they come up, and which one of you awesome cgner's are going to pm me before they put theirs on the exchange?

I don't know the exact number but not many. I have owned/traded around five myself and still have one in the collection. They are beasts of burden, so many changes were made to make the TNW a semi that the rifle/MG is now tempermental. Nevertheless, it looks great at the range and with a lafette mount is quite accurate.

Marstar still has some, but without the bolts. As soon as TNW sends the bolts (has already taken a year) more will be for sale. The cheapest I ever saw them was $2700 (Marstar Clearance), usually they go for $3000 and about five have been sold on the forum during the last year.

TNW has fixed the trigger and many of the bolt problems, it would be nice to handle one of there new guns.

Give me a PM and I can provide as much info as you wish (pics, etc.) I know several owners and might have some in's if one does come up for sale.

just sold mine on friday. will miss it, but as you say, very tempermental. some one screwed with mine before i bought it, changed the bolt out. terrible trigger now. but i'm sure THEY made one that functions. poor customer service from the importer. called TNW last week , they also suck with customer service. will avoid their products from now on. have a like new MG53/MG3 mount by hk if anyone is interested. perfect optics and light feature. also has adapter for MG34 and carry handle and surplus ammo.

I toy with the idea of buying a MG34, either TNW or Dewat. I am having a hard time convincing myself that I should shell out a premium for an MG with a new receiver and feeding problems just so I can pop off one round at a time. Seems a dewat would be more authentic and a better representation even if it doesn't go bang.

I'd go with the TNW simply because it -can- be made to fire legally. I mean the rest of the parts are authentic if that is what you are going for, aside from the modified grip and new receiver. Heck, a dewat will cost you about the same!
I haven't handled their receiver yet though, is it problematic due to tolerances, or poor machining finish? Just take the time to understand the problems and go from there. Mind you , YOU will likely have to do this yourself without the help of TNW. I'd suggest joining www.mg42.us and asking for help over there. They are very familiar with the TNW system.
You can display both the TNW gun and the Dewat, but you can only make one of them shoot legally.

On a side note, personally I've always preferred the 42 due to it's ability to go bang in any condition, wouldn't mind getting some of those BRP-corp mg42's up here one day when i have more cash to spend :D...

I have been browsing the MG42.US forum and I am not getting a warm and fuzzy about the TNW's. Is the new batch coming into Marstar better/more reliable than the TNW's in the past? Hearing about having to use two fingers to pull the trigger is not what $4000 should buy you. How hard is it to find an original Lafette mount up here?

Lafette mounts are not cheap, usually they go for $1500. There is a site in the US that is selling them re-conditioned for $2500 and I don't know if you could import one. The US looks at them as a Full Auto Accessory, I don't know what our own Feds think.

The TNW's at Marstar are old stock minus the bolts, with the better bolt, they might work better, but you still might have some trigger pull problems. I have a friend that inserted a TNW trigger kit on his and it works fine now. My current TNW had a good trigger to start with.

Got myself an original 1941 MG34 Lafette with original panzer grey paint on it. Now I just need someone to answer my WTB TNW MG34 ad on the EE I have had up for a month so I can actually mount an MG to it. Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
