I am building a .338 Lapua on a Weatherby Mark V action over the next few months. I am up in the air over the chamber. I have read every post I could find on the interwebs this weekend on the merits of the AI or the Edge instead of the standard .338 Lapua, but I need some more anecdotal insight.

So please, speak up, anyone who has built or owned one of these.

This may not be of any help to you but a friend has a 338/ 378 Weatherby and has had several problems with it.
I have a 338 Lapua Imp. built on a Nesika action and I can't say enough good things about it, totally trouble free and superbly accurate.
Built in Calgary by a site sponsor ( ATRS ) it is probably the most dependable rifle I own and the 338 LAI is a dream to reload as case life is unbelieveable.

From what I've seen and read, do it. 1/2 MOA is 1/2 MOA. You do not sacrifice any accuracy to increase velocity and brass life. At $3 a piece for new Lapua brass, the difference between getting 8 reloads to 20+ reloads equates to saving half the brass price on reloads. Even the barrel life of the LAI is impressive.
