To brakeor not to brake 10/22

Just picked up a used carbon fibre barrel to swap out with my factory pencil barrel.

Now this new to me dlask barrel does have a threaded end and wondering if putting a brake on the end is worth it.

Recoil being s light not sure I see the need.

If shooting steel, the brake helps direct the sound to the timer, also there is sometimes a cool factor

I like to put brakes on just to use the threads, but I wouldn't spend too much on one

on a 22 its more for aesthetics than anything else.
but then who dosnt like to look nice!?

Mount a muzzle brake on Carbon Fibre barrel is doing nothing but increase weight. Regular thread protect is fine.

I have to agree just put on a muzzle protector. Brakes direct the sound sideways which to me brings more noise to the shooter and requires ear protection outside. They do reduce recoil on centerfires and irritate bystanders but on rimfires its just tacticool. We really need supressors up here!

This, you only add weight and "noise" toward the shooter/line.

Why not use a linear compensator instead of a brake?
