So I built up a 14" 870 off of a 1986 model wingmaster magnum.

Now should I add sight or go to a bead. ? And who was sights for 14" barrels in Canada ?

If you want sights Casey at TacOrd would be my first suggestion.

I debated ghost rings or bead and went with an XS Big Dot on my 12.5" and 14" guns.

At times I regret the choice thinking ghost rings might have been better but in the end I'm happy with the Big Dot.

For a quick woods protection gun I think a bead is best.

One thing I wanted to avoid is sights packed with snow and frozen. The bead is cave man simple which I like.

Very good point about the snow!

I find that ghost rings on a shotgun are good at a moderate distance but slow you down and clutter up your field-of-view too much up close.

I prefer the Remington open sights or a bead.

XS Tritium Big dot or XS small dot front with wide V rear.

I have Wilson GRS on one 870P and like them but don't imagine I'll do it again.

Now I need to find a bigdot lol! Any knows who stocks them?

I think the ghost ring is the best sighting system for a shotgun. Th wilson combat ghost rings are superb

Didn't like the ghost rings on the short barrel, and on my slug barrels I preferred true iron sights. Ghost rings are at the bottom of the list

I had tritium sights (ghost ring and front bead) on my 12.5" 870. To be honest, it's a waste of money! It has to be real dark in order to see them. A decent weapons light is much better! For in the bush, I'd go with a front bead. But if the op wants a ghost ring, then Tac Ord is the best place!

I find bead sights are the fastest to acquire on SG's. On short barrelled SG's you will need a taller front sight or hold your aim lower....and practice, especially shooting slugs for accuracy.

I have Wilson scattergun GRS and love em however there are situations where a bead would be better.
