To "Mossberg...or not to Mossberg"

Hey guys~I'm a pretty staunch believer in the Remington 870, but had a friend let me use his Mossberg 500 Persuader a couple of years ago, and that experience kind of stuck with me. Lighter than my 870P, cycled very smoothly, parkerized finish...kind of dull/serious looking thing. :) Being a full-length mag tube, it's versatility is only so-so compared to the 590 "Tactical", which appears to be basically the same gun, only with a separate mag extension. If they're anything like the 870, that means a different (=sporting) barrel could be used with it. Probably the better route.

Question is this~the parkerized "Persuader" is a gun Mossberg dropped at some point in the last 12 months, and even the 590 Tactical is a model that appears a little different from Mossberg's site to one's I've seen online. Does anyone have a lead on either gun, used, at a fair price? A parkerized Persuader popped-up in the EE on the weekend, but looks like someone got it. SFRC had that gun listed @ $429 new less than a year ago, was hoping to find one in that price range. Seems non-black 500s (used) can be found -$300, but something about them being parkerized/matte black seems to drive-up the price. New/blued Persuaders are around...just not interested in that glossy finish. They always look dirty/oily...covered in finger prints. Maverick 88-ish.

In case anyone is wondering, my 870P seems to always be wearing it's 28" VR barrel for clays/hunting...but sometimes some higher-capacity/fun/target shooting needs to be done. I think the Mossberg would fit the bill, and it would be fun to see a non-870 pumper in the safe. Anyone have any leads?

Thanks for reading.
