I would re blue it . cold blue or have someone hot blue it depending on the rifle in question.

Realized I was being coy for no reason. I have a deact MP40 with zero bluing on the tube. Been debating rebluing or leaving it bare. I am a purist but it looks stripped, not bare from use. Smells like gas or some sort of hydrocarbon.

I would cold blue it and wear some of it off (age it)

Cold blue it and use some 4 zero steel wool to fade it to match the rest of the MP40.
