Good afternoon all,

I'm wanting your brutally honest opinions, both positive and negative, on the Tavor 7.

I have used a Tar21 and Stag10 quite a bit and like both systems for what they are.

I'm trying to determine if the Tavor7 is the next rifle in the stable.

Thank you for your responses.

****Not looking for alternative suggestions, just honest hands-on opinions of the Tavor7****

I really like mine! It is my first bull pup rifle, and although it has some heft being a 7.62Nato battle rifle, it handles, shoulders and points like an extension of the body. It is unreal comfortable to shoot, recoil impulse is negligible for the most part. Quality is great, as is fit and finish. Love the fact it takes AR-10/SR-25 pattern mags, so I can use them with other rifles too.

First range outing, the groups showed real promise, and that was shooting crappy norinco cooper wash.

The controls on it are also very smooth and intuitive. Trigger pull is actually pretty decent 2-stage, little bit of creep, but pretty good break on it.

I thought I was going to regret shelling out $3K for one, but it has become on of my most confident purchases.

Going to look sharp this fall at moose camp!

I really like it, it a little heavy compared to some other semi .308's but as mentioned because its a bullpup its balanced really well. In comparison my STAG10 with a shorter 18.5" barrel that feels way more front heavy

I love how the new style charging handle locks up and back and can be MP5 slapped to chamber, the safety selector is nice too, larger and easier to manipulate, really decent trigger

The only thing I don't really like and I am waiting for, is a replacement butpad that actually has some padding. The stock one is pretty hard and after a bunch of mag dumps can really start to hurt your shoulder. I have a Manticore extended butpad on order coming in on an imort next month

Thanks for the replies. I've been contemplating picking one up for a while now (was thinking RFB but quickly reversed course from the hands-on replies I got for that).

My thoughts were to have an ideal hunting caliber in a small config for the truck during hunting season. Seems like this might just fit that bill.

I love mine, I have a Leupold mark 6 3-18 on it and it will be my primary hunting and bush gun. I have gotten consistent hits out to 800 meters with ease. It’s not a DM rifle but it will hold its own and is accurate enough to hunt with.

I have not had an issue with recoil at all and find the factory break/hider works great.

Mine does not like heavier Bullet’s. Stick with the lighter weight stuff.
