It was a beautiful day today and perfect for a nice hike so I headed up to the forest to do some shed hunting. Ended up spending about 7hrs hiking and covered quite a bit of ground. There was still a bit too much snow in a lot of places and I may have missed a few that were covered up but it was fun and interesting. The morning started off great with a small whitetail shed right off the start followed quickly by the moose shed. About an hour went by and I picked up the spike but then the sheds dried up. I covered a lot of travel routes, bedding areas and feeding areas with no further luck.
Around noon I stopped for a break and started a small fire. A couple smokies roasted to perfection made a great meal.
Nearing the truck I spotted this guy and put a stalk on him. I have never got so close to a wild rabbit before and the last shot my phone was no more than 2ft away. Probably closer to a foot and half. One more crawling "step" forward finally sent him running.
