Tokarev 9mm conversion question

Starting with a Russian TT-33 in 7,62x25.

I can get a Tokagypt 58 in 9mm which is missing a few parts (the hammer and likely some associated springs).

Can I just add the 9mm barrel to the '33 and shoot 9x19? Do I need to swap out anything else to make it fire?

The current magazine should handle the cartridge, too? The larger '58 mag. won't go in the '33 frame, I think.

If I want to get the '58 going, might I be able to cannibalize the hammer assembly from the '33?

Grips and other bits compatible between models?

Any other ideas for Frankenpistol?

The Tokarev in 7.62X25 can be converted to 9x19 by changing the barrel. As far as the mag, the 9x19 round is a little short in the 7.62x25 mag. The mags are modified to feed 9X19 by adding a spacer at the the back of the mag.
However I have seen ( and had ) 9x19's work fine out of the longer mag.

I'm not covering new ground here, but I was able to switch calibre by exchanging the barrel and the barrel bushing on the front of the pistol. The standard 7,62mm magazines do indeed handle 9mm cartridges nearly perfectly (the Hungarian Tokagypt does not have the longer magazine of the Yugoslav version).

The hammer group was a direct drop-in from the TT-33. Not a single tool needed, if you wish to risk denting your thumb-nail pushing back the slide stop catch pin. I thought the added safety mechanism on the T-58 might interfere with the fit or operation, but not at all.

Every other part (save for the safety) can be switched. Now Chinese copies I have heard will present in-compatibilities.

(Picking up a spare hammer assembly on the EE made for two fully functional pistols; seems I was rather fortunate to find a Tokagypt being sold so cheaply for parts, that could be repaired so simply.)
