I made some very simple mods to my new Polish Tokarev. Yesterday i shot a IDPA practice and for the first time in my life, I cleaned the course. That is, no deductions for misses or shots out of the bull. This was because the pistol is fast and accurate.

Accuracy: I used a square needle file to make the rear sight more square and less of a U. I am 70 and my eyes need all the help they can get. This rear sight gives me a good fast sight picture with lots of light on both sides of the front sight.

Fast: The front sight is now a bright florescent orange. This was done with a dab of white enamel and then a dab of red paint. I bought the little $3.00 bottles of paint at the hobby shop. Note: The red florescent paint will not be bright unless you do the white paint first.

The front and backstraps got a strip of skateboard tape. This really helps the gun stay put in the hand.

The ammo was modded, too. I have a couple of cases of lead core milsurp ammo that I use on indoor ranges. It pops out at about 1550 fps. Snappy, loud and flashy. I pull the bullets, dump the 10 gr of powder and reload the same bullets over 8 gr of the same powder. This results in 1200 fps, no flash and less jump. The pistol is almost like shooting a 22.

Yes, I had to move my rear sight about 3mm to the right. I put rear of slide in a padded vice and used a brass drift and regular sized hammer. It seemed to move easier than some others. Did not leave a mark on the sight.

If I find a sight does not want to move I put some penetrating oil on it and wait a day. They key is to have the slide well anchored so there is no play to soften the blow.

Note: mailman just dropped off another Polish Tok. This one has an even better trigger. It shoots a nice tight group, but about 4 inches left, just like the first one. I am about to go find my drift and hammer.,.,.

And I notice the primer strike is round, unlike the first one that has that smear look to it.

Shame one couldn,t get a frame and have a rail on the underside for a lazer sight.Collectable but still a $240 gun truth be told.Extend the slide release lever to fit a homo-sapian and smooth out the mag release while your at it.It isn't turd polishing in this case.Wish they were originally slotted for a shoulder stock.

Looks good! Have you moved you rear sight at all? Mine is a bit over to the left. I have gave it quite a bashing and it will not budge. Heat it up maybe?

Couldn't move mine either. interested to hear what works.

Okay, I take it back. Put another 100 rounds through it this afternoon, and it's shooting straight. That make about 300 total. I'm thinking earlier problems were just me being lame, or maybe barrel is breaking in?? Anyway, today it knocked down chickens at 30 yards, so I don't think I'll be moving the sights after all.

Nice work on the pistol. Is the pistol in the original 7.62 x 25 or is it converted to 9mm. The reason I ask is I was told that 7.62x25 is too small (minimum 9mm) for IDPA. Also how do you manage with out a safety on the pistol?
I have a T33 and have thought about using it in a match myself.

Shame on you for saying something good about this pistol! I imagine it won't be long before "they" start posting here..........

Try shooting it with the grips off. Mind that your finger nails are trimmed otherwise they will really dig in under the recoil. I seem to shoot better with the grips off.

Oh, but mind you do not inadvertently move the trigger bow or you will not be able to shoot it.

That load with 296 looks great. I just took delivery of 1000 berry's plated 110gr bullets. I will try to make a real accurate load with them. I think I will put in a milder recoil spring and try a moderate load with something like 231.

I have 100 pieces of Privi brass to play with.

I had a brain fart and accidently bought a set of loading dies plus another sizing die. If anyone in the GTA wants to buy a sizer for $20, I got one. Mailing it would be too expensive, i think.
