Tokarev Slide Locking Issue

Hey guys, I just recently purchased a Soviet Tokarev TT-33 and it looks like it went thought a war (which it probably did). The notch for the slide stop seems to be very worn and the slide will not properly lock and hold open when the magazine is removed, the slide stop just slides right off of the notch. The angle looks off and it looks like it got chewed up by a very crazy Soviet gunsmith at some point in the past and/or polished and cleaned excessively to the point where the hold open does not function at all unless an empty magazine is in there. Pistol should still fire and is mechanically fine, but I would prefer it if I could get it functioning properly if possible. Now, I'm limited on the things I can do here, I'm aware, but I was wondering if there is any sort of compound that I can add to the notch or the slide stop to make it more abrasive or give it a better gripping angle that won't destroy my gun, it's finish, or require advanced welding skills. Any advice at all would be greatly appreciated. Pictures available upon request.
