I wouldn't say it recoils a heck of a lot more, but noticeable yes. They throw a lighter bullet at a faster speed than 9mm so the recoil (to me,subjective) is punchy or snappy. And lots of bark.
Closer to 40S&W than 9mm. In a small frame gun with a really crappy trigger it's going to get your attention the first time. There after U know what to expect.
It has a lot of snap but not a lot of push. I never shot a 9mm Tok so hard to compare for me, but 7.62x25 is way snappier than 9mm. I'd say close to .357sig.
I always found the biggest jolt was from the noise. Recoil was trivial. But it's been a couple of years since I got rid of mine so my memory might be off.
