Tomahawk SA-1800

mossberg 930 for not too much more money.

I hear so many malfunction stories from the top of the line makes that I wouldn't want to step down to a cheaper gun. I'm lookin at autos too so would also like to hear any opinions on the turkish stuff.

Had a Tomahawk SA1800 with the top folder. Bought 2 boxes of #4 and took it out to the gravel pit, had a lot of fun blasting through them. It fired very fast and there was only a couple of fail to ejects/misfeeds during rapid fire. Had some buck and slugs, mixed them up in the gun and still no firing issues.

Now for the bad news: During the shooting session the front sight post let go causing it and the the heat shield to go flying off. Also the pins holding the trigger assembly in place started backing out and I had to keep pushing them back in place, and finally the stock got loose and had to be retightened. The sight looked like it had originally been glued on with SuperGlue, I reattached it with JB Weld. Sold the gun a month or so later with full disclosure.

All in all a fun gun for the money, but to me it felt cheap and after shooting it, did nothing to change that opinion. Kind of turned me off Turkish guns altogether although to be fair I haven't shot another Turk gun again, enjoying my Benelli M4 Entry waaay too much :D

get a hatsan mpa semiauto sights are good i hear good things about them , and i'm sure the store you buy it from can warranty everything its made in the philipines and if i didn't have too many shotguns i'd buy one just for kicks , but if you want to step it up a bit get a mossberg 930 if you can great gun in the stoeger price range.

I will have to agree that the Hatsan MP-A out of the box has great optical sights out of the box along with the needed rails to attach lights and red dots.

The MP-A works as good as the restricted Benelli for a fraction of the cost.

The shotgun is mainly used for IPSC and 3 gun events - so it is worked hard.

damn it ....I still have the same piece of crap....front sight let go and the heat shield went flying.....I put it back together and turned into a "wall hanger". I couldn't live with myself if I had sold it to some unsubspectecting soul...I have bought alot over the years but that was the worst piece of s##t that I have ever had the displeasure of buying and owning

What stock is that on the Hatsan??

I had a 2nd gen? Turkish Kral Semi Auto. The newer ones from Marstar are 3rd I believe (I could be wrong here). The gun cycled fine. The Hatsan MPA is the best semi for the money-i just bought one. If your budgets bigger than next in line is a Dominion Cougar also very reliable. After that probably A Remington or Mossberg. At the top is the Benelli M4.

What stock is that on the Hatsan??

The stock is an ATI ShotForce stock.

The L.O.P. on the original stock was far too long for me @ 13.5" With the ATI stock I have it down to 12"LOP...perfect for high ready positions since I wear a tac vest on my shotgun runs.

The trick was I had to modify the stock adapter from a Winchester 1100 so it fitted the MP-A receiver with a belt sander and a round file. I also had to replce the original bolt to a shorter one from home depot.

Hope this helps.

I bought a Tomahawk from Marstar last year and the only good thing about it was that they let me put it back in the box and ship it right back. It was a total piece of junk!!
