I saw some gun advertised and it says:

Tonsper made in england, caliber .303, was a militairy rebuilt, 6 round mag..

Google show nothing on Tonsper.

I guess it's a bolt-action and probably the top one.

Any info/value?

Probably from the proof mark, tons per sq.". Looks like any of the 1000s of commercially sported No. 4 rifles dumped on the market. Mag. looks to be standard 10 shots. $75-$125 assuming sound mechanical condition with a sharp bore.

If you're thinking of buying it, it's really only good as a hunting rifle, in that don't waste your money trying to restore it. Why you ask? Because they have cut the last 2" off the end of the barrel, and it would cost you more to find a barrel for it, that a nice No4 in origianl condition, IMHO.

I would only use it to plink, I'm new to long gun, so...
It's 1/2 cheaper than a .22 but I guess ammo will cost like .233?

Hunting ammunition will be more expensive. At present there is no great supply of surplus on the market.

303 plinker

I have such a "sportered" 303.
It is a real tackdriver! maybe I lucked out but that particular specimen has a very sharp and clean barrel and it shoots really good, peep or scope.
At first, I used to shoot it with the standard peepsight and discovered it had a tendency to group 180 grainers at the same place, in very small clusters.
Then I found a S&K mount and put a good scope on it.
That scope is now a permanent fixture on top of that 303.
It is my preferred scoped rifle.:)
PP.

Commercial .303 will set you back about $1 per round.

Just FYI.

And, once you buy one Lee Enfield, you want another, and when you have two, you want five, then ten... Just to warn you!

:p :p :p Funniest thing I've heard in a while :p :p :p

Well I guess I'll take it, he said it's in great shape and only fired 5rnd himself, it come with the cleaning kit shown.

If I find it too costy to shoot, I'll sell it back and buy a .22 semi :)

Sad note, today someone showed me a .303 carbine he found it in an old guy's closet . I glanced at it and barrel was to short for a carbine, plus it had a SMLE front sight. Look at it up close turns out to be a badly butchered New Zealand marked Lee-Metford MkII Rifle. I looked at the guy and said someone took a $1500.00 rifle and turned it into a $50.00 piece of junk.
