Fellas, I just mounted and bore sighted a Leupy Vari X-II 2-7 on a Parker Hale Safari Deluxe. The rifle fits me perfect. As soon as my cheek hits the stock i am on target and the eye relief is great. But check out how close the bolt comes to the scope. In some cases their is a light rub mark that happens but just wipes wipes away very easy. Does Weaver make a base/bases for this rig if i need to go to a higher ring set?? It has Parker Hale bases and rings on it currently. kinda sucks because i really like the scope height for me the way it is but the bolt stroke is a little close to the scope.???

Uses standard sporting Mauser bases, #45, #46. Or any other base sytem for the "FN" style Mauser. You could shim both bases, but there is usually enough slop in a Mauser bolt's movement that the shims might have to be quite thick.

................Thanks. I will have to change rings and bases as the parker hale bases have no cross cut in them for regular weaver rings. Too bad because i really like the scope height but its obviously to close to the bolt.:(

.............If i push the bolt against the scope, it barely touches it. I think i may try shimming. Any tips ??? Have lots of shimstock at work. Never attempted it before though.

Marc,

I have solved the same problem you have on several of my rifles by simply grinding a small amount off the bolt handle and then polishing it to finish.

Quick and easy, and it works! :)
