I just picked up my rifle from a gunshop where they installed the scope. The rifle is a Sevens 200 .223, the scope is a Bushnell Banner 6-18x50 and it is mounted on a one piece Leupold base with Burris medium rings.
I thought the scope was a bit too close to the barrel but the guy assured me that it's best to have the scope as low as you can and the heat wouldn't matter on a hunting rifle not being fired repeatedly.
Otherwise, it's comfortable to look through the scope, it doesn't feel too low.
Should I take it back and ask them to mount the scope on high rings or just leave it the way it is?

For any big game hunting rifle I would highly recommend having the scope as close to the barrel as possible.

For a .223 it kind of depends on what you use it for. If you are doing a lot of consecutive shots for animals like varmint; then heat could be an issue. If you don't think you will be shooting more then 4-6 consecutive shots then I would say you are good to go.

Looks great the way it is :) A low mounted scopes make for a better cheek weld, which makes for better accuracy. Now get to the range and see what ammo that Stevens likes to shoot :sniper:

Hey 'Boo, that's an awesome sig line...lol :D

Hey Frank.

It looks good, and that scope mounted low is what everyone else suggested.

Maybe we can get together one of these day's and shoot some wabbitz or somethin ;)

PS
I'll be PMin you a new pic of my No4 with the scope on, should have the mount tomorrow.
Whewt

You'll have to tell us how she shoots. I have a Stevens 200 and hope to scope her later in the year once some tax money comes back to me. From what I've heard of the Tasco Varmint Scopes, I think that I'll be shopping for something of a bit higher quality that still won't break the bank.
