I have an opportunity to purchase a Leupold Mark 4 4.5-14x50 M1 for $200 and I am almost sure it is a knock of but it is of very good quality. what do you guys thing?

it is iluminated reticle. Is there any way to confirm if its a china knock of or not?
It seems pretty damn clear lookin through her and grabs light very well, only concern is the price of $200 considering they are going for $1200 plus.

but for $200 i doubt u can buy something this nice looking

Yes, it is a knock off. I once had a totally fake Leupy on a M14 that, much to my surprise, held up quite nice but usually these knock offs are not worth the money.

I checked that site and it has non of those knock off features. I should of maybe reworded my thread but I definetally knew in my mind it was a fake. Just wontering if its worth $200.

whaT aspects will it suck in? like what is the differences between a real one and this one? Obviously lots but what exactlly would i notice. will the zero get messed up or something? will 1/4 inch clicks actually be 1/5 clicks? dont hate on the asians just because they copied a product, sometimes they actually pull it off.

to give you an example, although rolex is made in europe, most of its parts are made in china and thats why fakes are so easily made and often look so real and still tell time. But like all replicas there are #### ones and good ones, after a thorough inspection it seems like an A++ knock off.
I cant seem to find a better scope for that price as it stands. this thing will be for ranges for 300yards max anyways. will it still do the job? or will it fall on its face somehow?

In my opinion paying 200$ is way to much but hey its your money

Ha funny I stumbled across this thread. Just not an almost identical scope to this one except not illuminated for $80 on ebay. I knew for sure it was a fake but it is one of my .22s so not too concerned. Great scope for what I am using it for but don't think it would hold up to any significant recoil. Had the same style lettering on the bottom same turrets sane scope caps as the one in your pictures.

The Chinese version of the Leupold Mark 4 can be bought for 100.00 or less, so yes 200.00 is too much. These scopes have been around for a few years now, when I heard about them I bought one, just had to have a Chinese Leupold. The scope has stood up to the 308 win well and is still going strong.
The big difference is the glass of course, it's fine on a hunting rifle but not the quality of the real Leupolds.

Call Leupold with the serial #.

not sure that is necessary anymore. Plus the pics the previous gent posted are exactly what I have but mine is illuminated reticle.

So is it holding up to recoil my main concern? so far from the two people that actually owned one it seems to be like its fine for light hunting. first guy has it on his .22 so thats hard to judge but the other gentleman has it on something with some kick and is happy.

cansomeone find a link where ican get one cheaper than $200? Im having trouble, only found a few private sales at $300 plus.

as for the whiners
I understand people are upset but its only chinas laws that allow this, but its the people in your country that distribute it.... we are buying it so they will make it... i doubt chinese can even own guns. they have no use for these.

thanks.

You bet, I went to E-Bay and bought direct from China. The great thing about this is, it will arrive in approx a week to 1.5 weeks, no problem with accross border issues. The sellers are very good about making sure to receive your item.

Absolute bull####e...Rolex uses ETA movements. ALL of their production and manufacturing facilities are in Switzerland.
Love this about the 'net...people hear stupid rumours and then posts it as gospel truth.

No, Rolex doesn't use ETA movements, they make their own in house. The fake Rolex's use ETA though, maybe you have one of those? ;)

My take on these clone POS scopes....
Most smart people buy a scope for the quality of the glass and the durability of the components. Its made in China so automatically you know the quality and durability isn't there. So what reason does that leave? It looks cool? Looks like a mk4?
For $200 or a little more you can get fairly decent scopes these days....Redfield and Bushnell both have decent stuff in that range.
