Why did the steel shot reg eliminate many hunters? Is it because the steel is much less effective than lead was, thus meaning many shots with no effect, plus needing a new generation of expensive steel friendly shotguns? (those are my best guesses)
I would say needing new shotguns and just being under impressed with the results of 2"3/4 steel in the early years has a lot to do with it.
No matter what anyone says about the killing power of steel, there was nothing like folding up a goose a 35yrds with a 1 1/4 oz 2 3/4" lead shell of #2's.
