Especially with the new layout, having a half page of stickies is annoying. Would it not be possible to have a "Best of Milsurps thread" with links to all the currently sticked threads, then have that as a stickey along with the "this month's purchases" thread and the match thread?

They just need to make a sub forum for milsurp info stickies( like the svt40 one) in the milsurp forum, just like the cooking forum is a sub forum in the hunting forum.

I find that too many stickies are a nuisance too.
On the other hand it is a very useful tool to have important/ very useful
posts accessible without having to go trough the search engine.
One way of dealing with them would be to put them in a sub category "Stickies".

I agree with the idea.

I would also like to see a milsurp pistol forum. There is not really a true home for milsurp pistols currently in my opinion, most come here, some are in pistols and revolvers.

Stickies are extremely helpful, but they need to have their own sub forum. And, I agree with Steve, x2 on the military pistol forum.

Stickies are very helpful and provide a lot of information, IF someone looks at them. We all see the same type of posts almost every week, on the same subject that has been covered two dozen times before, because someone is just too lazy or they do not know how to use the "search" function. How many "ROSS" posts or "LEE-ENFIELD" posts do we have to contend with where someone has taken the bolt or rifle apart for "cleaning" and assembled something wrong. Particularly in the Lee Enfield or SMLE where they take the safety apart and there are six different ways to assemble it, five of which are wrong. Then the next post we see is "My rifle does not work" or something similar. Usually with a distinct lack of information on what was done to the rifle and the fact that the person took it apart. After about 10 posts on the subject where everyone has to guess what happened, the OP then lets everyone know what he did to cause the situation.

Hopefully Stickies will help alleviate these situations a bit.

Actually, I am in favor of MORE Stickies, IF the information is of ongoing value and pertains to the subject. Unfortunately, some people will try to make Stickies of almost anything, so they get plugged up a bit on the Forum. We would have to monitor the Sticky posts a bit and notify a Moderator of any concerns.

I would also suggest a Sub-Forum for Stickies. This could easily be made similar to the Equipment Exchange where there is one main subject of Rifles for Sale and another sub-forum for the Parts and Accessories. This would solve the problem of having to go through the stickies before you get to the Posts, but still retain the information in one area that is easy to access.

I agree with consolidation of the stickies, in a sub category, perhaps just "Useful Info - Milsurp Stickies" or some such. The information is very valuable, and just needs to be re-packaged in my opinion.

Sticking stickys away will kill them, its just like sticking something away in a backroom, no-one will see them.
As for "we see the same questions ask over & over again" so what!! that is what these forums are all about, share your knowledge, dont be an arrogant pig & just tell a newbie to do a search, it may be easy for us as we know what to search for, for a newbie who may not even know the name for a part, that can be next to impossible.
