Took the plunge and bought a pistol

Hey All,

Fairly new to these forums, been a long gun owner for a long time but got my RPAL a few months ago and after a lot of research/youtube watching and a few trips to the range to try out various pistols I finally bought one.

I wanted a striker fired pistol, not sure why I just like them...so yesterday I bought a Sig Sauer P320. The price was very reasonable compared to the PPQ, I've shot the P226 and really liked it so hopefully the difference will be minimal as it felt very similar in my hand.

Hopefully this won't lead to an addiction of sorts as this might get expensive, lol. I pick it up on Friday and can't wait to get it to the range. When they come new are they basically ready to fire? It looked good to go when I handled it but wanted to make sure. Thanks.

Any gun that is new to you should by taken apart and cleaned properly.

Congratulations, hopefully its the first of many. Its s good idea to field strip, inspect and remove any excessive lubricant or preservative before you shoot it for the first time. Enjoy.

Read the manual. Clean out the storage lube. Bit of grease on the sliding surfaces and you're good to go!

Congrats, just recently picked up a P320 myself - it's a great pistol. As for the addiction though, well you're on your own there!

I bought one of these in 9mm. Pick it up tomorrow. Taking the wife with me. She wants to shoot a few things while we are there.

Congrats... P320 is very underrated so I think you made a very good choice (IMO). Break in period for the p320 is 400 rounds. Take it apart and clean it before you shoot it as everyone is suggesting. Use only a tiny bit of lube on the metal parts. Repeat the process after 30-50 rounds. You don't have to clean after 3-5 rounds as you do with a precision rifle. You'll notice a difference after 400 rounds.

9mm is a very good calibre but might be a little much for your wife and the grip on the p320 might be a bit large for her if she is petite like my wife. Put 1 round in the magazine first if she have never shot before. Last thing I want to do is to scare anyone off with a negative experience. My wife hated going to the range with me because all I shot were 9mm's, .30 cal's and shotguns. Took many years of convincing and promises of a good quality pistol and rifle that would fit her, for her to warm up to firearms. Now she nags me to go to the range with her 22/45 target and Anschultz in tow. Dude... I am giving you an excuse to get a .22 pistol!
