Well today I decided I wanted to pick up a 9mm pistol again (had a Browning HP years ago) for something cheap to shoot, and little easier to handle then my 1991-A1 Colt .45.

I ordered a HK USP-SD 9mm Tactical from Hunter's Sports.:D

It looks cool with that threaded barrel!!!;):p

It won't be in for a couple of months, but I can hardly wait.Have to start stocking up on 9mm ammo now......

Anyone else shoot one of these HKs???

Accuracy on the HK 9mm SD should be quite good, as it has the O-ring barrel. Also, it is a relatively rare model, so it should hold its value well (trust me to always think of the re-sale).
 
yeah have the regular USP in 9mm. Its a pig..itll eat anything. I like it alot. You can strip it down in like 2 seconds. Still think it has odd recoil.... but in rapid fire that bushing really works.

whos gonna buy an Elite now? I would like to see a review on one of those.
 
Congrats on the purchase, SKBY. I've got an Expert in .45 and the only thing I found that I didn't really like was the grip--the checkering and serrations were not very grippy. I threw on a Hogue Handall and improved the feel 100%.
 
I have a USP 9 SD. It is very nice. I like the adjustable sights and the threaded barrel is pretty cool - I got a thread protector from CCF firearms for that. I also installed a Match Trigger in mine which makes it much better to shoot and so the only real difference between it and the USP Tactical is caliber and lack of an O ring!
 
Has anyone else noticed the recoil spring can rub against the interior of the frame in a way that sounds like crap. I turned it and cycled the slide and it sounds / feels better to cycle. I doubt it effects recoil management or follow up shots, but FYI.
I have been using Slide Glide Lite in the slide rails, and as well where the hammer strut meets the hammer, as well as on the entire strut. Good thing about this stuff is that it stays put and makes everything move smoother.
 
another "good" thing about the mag release of the HK USP family, is that I have to use my trigger finger to press the mag release. there is no possible way I can reach it with my thumb without shifting my entire grip. I say "good" because not everyone likes it.
My finger has to come off the trigger and outside of the trigger guard to press the mag release. good for safety, especially in IPSC/IDPA.

Check your recoil spring assembly. About half way down, you'll see a pin that holds the recoil spring buffer in place. This pin can sometimes drift out over time, and rub against the recoil spring as you cycle the action. This can cause that rough scratchy sensation you were describing. It happened with one of my USP's. I just gently drifted it back in with a punch, and the problem went away.

My buddy shoots a USP .40, and his son shoots a USP Tactical .45 for IDPA. They both love 'em. I've tried them, and they shoot well. Now they want a USP Compact to add to the set.
 
Sad to say my order of the HK USP-SD has gone for naught.:(

The gunshop could't cancel my scope order in time, so I have to take the scope instead.:rolleyes:

But I will have two of these, I may have a NIB Leupold 1.5 - 5 X 20mm M/RT scope with the Illum. SPR reticle up for sale /trade when it comes in, so I am not counting myself out as a HK owner!!!;)

It is probably for the better anyway...now you can order one in a man's cartridge, not that euro pellet girly caliber!:p Next time I see you at Poco you are welcome to try my USP Compact in 45acp...and yes, the barrel is threaded!:D
