I would like to thank a few ppl who really helped me out.
first my buddy chad(skinny) he had the jacked up truck and other than transporting all the metal gongs and shooting platforms from my shop to the range he made 25 trips down to the long range to score and set up gongs.also he was my spotter and did a terrific job. i would like to thank all the shooters who came out. some travelled 5 hours to come out and shoot and i really appreciate that kind of dedication. special thanks to Rick from alberta tactical for bringing out some of the nicest guns ive ever seen. id like to thank all the stores who donated prizes to support the shoot.

Mutt and Chad did an outstanding job on this shoot, It was extreamly well organized, a great shooting format and just a great bunch of guys to shoot with. If you guys go again count us in as regulars.

The plaque you guys did up for Danger Deb is one she will remember the rest of her life and the thought behind it goes to show the quality of people you all are down there. Outstanding to the power of 10 and those of you who missed it, dont know what ya missed. WELL DONE:rockOn::rockOn::rockOn::rockOn::cheers:

Well done guys. I don't have much experience to compare this event too, but judging from the smiles I saw and the amount of fun I had, I would say none of the people there would dare miss it next year.

For not having known anyone previous to coming out, I just want to say that it was nice to meet such a great group of people (and to see some awesome guns:D). I look forward to seeing all of you again at future events. Anyone that didn't come out because they don't know anyone should give there heads a shake. I have to admit, it's a bit intimidating at first but the people are great and it's just way to much fun to miss out on.

Here are some of the pics I managed to get.

Looking down range. For anyone that has not been to the Genesee range the close backstop is 200m. To the right of that is the 3, 4, and 500m. To the immediate left of the 200m is the 600m and left again, way out there is the 700m (it's hard to see against the tree line).

Here's our event organizer making sure the gongs are set perfect. He did and awesome job right down to the finest detail. Not bad for his first event.

Here's Chad giving the gong's a fresh coat of paint. He did a superb job of helping out but I was most impressed with the spotting he did. As I recall all of his shooters did not bad in the standings. :D
I have never had anyone spot my shots for me but I now know that a good spotter makes a big difference. Good job Chad!!!!

.308 vs .338 Lapua Improved. They have been painted over but you can see both shots side by side on the bottom right corner.
Oh ya this is 1/2" plate steel at 400m.

Next is a vid clip of a gong hit at 600m with a 50 cal. The video sucks because it was taken with my camera looking through a spotting scope. Listen for the delay from the shot to the sound of the hit. Another thing is that the gongs are supposed to just flip over backward. The gong hit is 12"x12" by 1/2" steel plate planted in the ground with 1/2" rebar and it was thrown around like a rag doll!
Just a warning the video clips are large a might take awhile to download if you have a slow connection.

The next clip is of the 50 cal. being shot. It was my first time seeing this (and feeling it!). Pretty impressive.

Thanks again to everyone.

If I recall right it was about 60% custom or semi custom 40% stock or slightly modified.....It wasn't so much about the rifle as the people behind them. There was one fellow out there with a stock norinco m-14 making some nice hits at 500 meters. And to me thats as impressive as a guy with a full blown custom making the hits on one MOA targets at 700meters. It was all good.

great event

Sorry for the long wait for this post but I had some computer gremlins to deal with. First off, I want to send out a big Thanks to Mutt for putting on a great shoot. The organizing of this event must have eaten up a lot of his time coupled with the fabrication of the targets and shooting senarios.
Now for a few pics. I got there the evening before and had a bit of time to play around at the range.

This gong got clipped by the 338LM at 600meters. Notice how the others are still straight in comparison.
On to the shoot. The day started out raining and hailing like a MotherF**ker which had some of us concerned about auto insurance claims but after the storm subsided, all was still ok. The upside to the weather was that there was NO wind which made it great shooting in for the smaller calibers. The downside to getting a couple of inches of rain was that it made it incredibly hard to see where you're bullets dug into the dirt because of such little report.

A couple 50BMGs graced our presence. It's always interesting watching EVERYTHING go flying when they go off.

Congrads to all the winners, and thank-you to everyone for coming out and having an awesome time.
