I'd like to put a top folding stock on my Winchester model 12. I'd likely need to make an adapter, I have the old stock, could cut a piece off the front of it, inch or so, or get a buddy to do one in aluminum. Has anyone on here ever tried to put a pistol grip folding stock on a model 12? I know I'm stubborn, but am I also dumb for trying this?

I would not cut off a thin slice of end grain wood and expect it to hold up under stress of any kind, especially in the rear of a firearm receiver. make one up by taking measurements & or get someone else to do it - preferably out of aluminum or steel, you might even get away with making it up out of plastic (hey it works for Ar-15 lowers).

Thanks Tony, I've been thinking that myself. Have a couple of machinist buddies at work who can do an aluminum piece for me.

If it wasn't for stubborn people that didn't know any better to not try something we'd be sitting in the dark with no phones cars or firearms..have fun tinkering..
