I’m torn between these two.
I handled both at a local gun store, but obviously never fired either one.
I like both ergonomically. My hands are relatively small in men’s standard so both seem to be a good fit in my hand.
The look and feel are similar as well.
The only difference I can see is that PDP is more optic ready but I’m not a guy crazy for red dot.
I would like to hear some advices from you guys with real shooting experience, how is the trigger, recoil, reliability, etc.

I have the PDP, and I'm an HK "junkie" as well. I really like the PDP, and while at the moment you may?? not see yourself using a MRDS? it a great option and a very easy install. I have "older" eyes with some issues, and I found that a MRDS made shooting a lot more fun. Either is a "top shelf" pistol, so I'm sure each will "grow" on you at some point. Trigger is very good, recoil on a 9mm is not a problem, I've had very good reliability with 147gr. If you decide on the PDP, make sure to get your "free" plate from Walther, I chose the RMR plate as most of the Holosun RDS run that footprint. However I'm using the CHP's plate to run the 509t, as it uses a dovetail/picatinny mount. Cheers

I have handled and shot both. Having been an iron sight guy for 35 years I never gave the red dot much thought until I actually tried one. Now I have a few of them on various guns. I absolutely love the PDP and having the ability to put any red dot on it is a bonus. I think HK is a fantastic company but I am going to have to give the edge to the PDP.

I started a thread called I wish someone introduced me to Walter years ago and one specifically related to the PDP. Here are the links. Quite honestly it is the best out of the box polymer firearm. The PDP even allows you to put your favorite Glock 19 or 17 sights on it.

All good points and I agree, I guess we should point out that the PDP is a "striker" fired pistol (SA), while the HK P30 is a "hammer" fired pistol(SA/DA), which is going to be quite different. I found my HK hammer pistols to have a bit of "take up" in the triggers? however that may have improved in the P30?

Thanks all for the advice. I probably will go with PDP then.
Any big difference in overall size and grips between full-size and compact?
I really want a 4.5” barrel but the compact is only 5”. Why can’t they make a compact 4.5!

They do make a compact 4.5. Full size and compact are available in both barrels. I have the full size in 4.5 and love it.

I went with the compact as I prefer the 5 inch barrel. The full size come in a 4.5 inch and 5 inch barrel. I owned a PPQ M2 for many years and the compact PDP just felt better in my hands when compared to the full size. Plus the PDP compact will take PPQ magazines.

Now just to mess you up even more......Walther is releasing their PDP SD-Pro. This appears to be geared towards the competitive shooter. https://marstar.ca/product/walther-pdp-sd-pro-9mm-pre-order-only/

The PDP is already an amazing firearm so this SD Pro version has my curiosity peaked.

Get the HK SFP9. I’ve owned all three, that ones my favourite.

I found the larger slide on the PDP noticeable when shooting them back to back.

Damn. SD pro 4” slide 4.6” threaded barrel. Exactly what I love.
Take my money, $100 deposit is gone.
This site is so toxic to my wallet

JQIAN I have that page open as well and keep on flip flopping on whether to buy purchase it. I don't need it but I want it. Lol

With the deposit paid and now pending for the arrival of this thing, I can look at it a positive way: for the next few months, I can tell myself I won't buy another gun because there is a fantastic one coming soon... :)
