Does anyone know if this club, located at Hwy 89 and the 400, is going to be extending its hours? The last time I shot there they were only open on Sundays. How much are their membership fees? Thanks

Going tomorrow Sunday August 13. I'm not a member and have never shot skeet before. Is anyone planning on being there? I figured I'd just show up and look around.......maybe even try it out if someone wanted to show me the ropes.

Hope to see you there.

p.s. Driving a white Audi A6 and planning to get there around 11

Here is what the sign said in the window on the weekend...cant remember the close time on wedesday..

Saturday 10am to 4
Sunday 10am to 4
Wedseday 4-?

Closing time for Wed. is 9:00pm.

I got there at around 11:30 and did a bunch of walking around but no shooting. I must admit that I felt a little intimidated. I only have a 1300 Defender. It's my first and only shotgun and it spent the day in my trunk. I saw some really cool (and probably very expensive) over/unders. The place was busy with alot of really good shooter and I didn't think it was the best day for a newbee like myself to give it a go. I'm planning on going back tommorow night (Wed). I'm hoping it won't be as busy as Sunday was and that way I can give it a try.

The first time I ever went up there I brought an 870 Express. Heard some comments but I didn't care. You have to start somewhere and don't worry about what the other guys are shooting. You can bet they didn't have such nice guns when they started out in the old country. Just go and shoot. If you are going to shoot trap and not sure of the way things operate ask at the counter where you pay your fees and they should explain or hook you up with someone that knows. I know what it's like to go to a new club and not get any help. It says something about the membership. If you have any particular questions send a PM and I'll try and help. I am no expert though.

I hate guys like that and it's WAY too common at some clubs.

I'm tempted to get a few friends together and go up there with our 14" 870s, Winchester Defenders, coach guns, lever action shotguns and other (ahem) interesting items. Once we're done shocking the citizenry we can bring out our Berettas, Perazzis and Krieghoffs.

Claybuster, I really like that idea. A shortgun shoot. I think I could round up a few guns who can shoot well enough to embarrass a few people.

If only I knew sufficient people with Boss or Fabbri creations, I'd form a squad just to sneer at the Berettas, Perazzis and Krieghoffs. Put the shoe on the other foot, so to speak. I can hear the tongues wagging now. Any gunnutz out there with about $750,000 worth of competition guns they want to show off?

That's well above my snack bracket but I know a guy with a Fabbri and one Boss owner. Then there's the guy with a couple of Galazan o/u that I might be able to convince to come out. :D

Fabbris are a sore point with me. Five years ago a Fabbri owner mentioned he wanted to sell his two-barrel set and named a price. I told him I would buy it despite not having the money but figuring that I could get it somehow. The owner said he would think about it but in the interim contacted an American dealer who offered him the true value of the gun which was about double what he was asking. As Maxwell Smart used to say "Missed it by that much."

Claybuster, I bleed a little bit for you after reading your Fabbri story. A two barrel set, at that. Life can be cruel, but there is a silver lining. If you had a Fabbri, you would absolutely have to go shoot fliers. In very little time you would be penniless and lost to polite society, wandering around in the park waving your fists and muttering obscenities at pigeons. You have probably been spared a horrible fate. If another chance at a gun like that comes your way, contact me and I will try my best to save you from that dreadful trap.

Sharptail, that's a very generous offer.;)

The man selling the Fabbri was a very active flier shooter at one time. It's probably just as well the gun went to someone else. Having watched some flier shooting in Europe I could easily see it becoming a serious addiction and the clays are bad enough already.

I never felt comfortable at that club for the same reasons, Shooting trap at the Oshawa club was alot more relaxing and fun.

:D The first time my four buddies and I shot trap we used: Rem 11-87 Police; 14" Fabarm Martial Proforces; Beretta 1201FP riot gun; 14" Norinco HP9; and a sawed off Baikal SxS. We got a few strange looks but broke enough clays to earn some respect. The regulars dubbed us the "Assault Team."

Fun times...

i shot skeet with a bunch of old guys with nice guns and i had my old wingmaster. they made a few jokes but then i shot 8 in a row and the started to look worried lol but then i started to miss a few. ive never had a problem shooting at my club (osgc) everyone is really friendly. my advice is to just be polite and try and shoot with laidback people. the guys with the camo semis and pumps are usualy the funnest to shoot with.;)

I was a member of the York Skeet Club a few years ago and a number of the people from Toronto International were also members of York. They tended to be agitators rather than effective contributors to the club. These were the seasoned people if you will, and set in their ways if you get my drift. This came out particularly strong when the York Club was being pressured by the Pearson Airport people to sell the club to the airport for expansion reasons (and probably because one doesn't like to have a gun club resident on you property line and a couple hundred yards from a runway). This is from a guy who is no spring chicken himself. On the otherhand these were not all the Toronto International members just the few that were members of both clubs.
