So I am about to order a rifle....Any input or suggestions...Its a toss up between a ruger sr 22 or a cz 512 tactical(im thinking wmr for a little bit more punch at longer range as it isnt just a range gun ill be using it at camp also...I will be buying the tactical because my boys apperantly think they are cool!...lol....It wont be my first rimfire I have several old cooeys and I had a wmr remington back in the day.Getting bored with the 54-53 tulas...Anyhoo I am not trying to get a cockfight started Im just looking to get opinions on pros and cons of these differant platforms....thanks.

Ruger has more after market support. Both can be reliable. Personally I'd try the cz because Rugers can be money pits. But as you say it's a toss up. Many happy ruger owners out there

Either or... whatever tickles your fancy... SR-22 is reliable and fun... haven't used the CZ 512.

Thanks for the input...much appreciated! Which ever one I buy I am just putting on a bushnell trs 25 and shooting the darn thing lol...I got into the old milsurp rifles and went a little overboard with upgrades it got quite costly but it intrigued me to rejoin the gun club so Im hooked again...

You probably know already, but it needs to be mentioned. 22WMR is significantly more expensive than 22LR with far less choice of ammunition. Especially using a semi auto with kids shooting. Ask me how I know this!!
As far as a choice between CZ512 and Ruger SR22, I'm going to side with Ruger, far more support and aftermarket parts available. The CZ has had issues that I've seen multiple times at the range I shoot at.
If you are open to another choice I would consider a Remington 597 VTR (tactical look) more accurate than the SR22 and cheaper to boot. Follow the stickies on rimfirecentral.com for tips.
Good luck with your future purchase.
