Totally blind and wanting to hunt.

Blind Hunter

I knew a blind gentleman on PEI that collected military firearms and used to target shoot. He and a friend came to gun shows for years, he would touch a firearm with his hands and go all over. He could pick out things from the gun that one might overlook, it was amazing.
When he went to the range he had a spotter that helped direct his fire on the target.
He had a slight accident in Charlottetown when cleaning his shotgun in his apartment. It discharged went through his window and struck the back window of a half ton thuck waiting at a stop light no injuries to anyone. I haven't heard of him since and that was about 10 or 15 years ago. If a blind person wante to hunt OK, I think it's great.
I was reading a book on sniping and there is a scope attachment used by police and military by CastFire Solutions that transmitted the image in the scope to another person with communications equipment that can see exactly what the shooter sees through the scope, and is used to directed the shooter. It might work, you still need the scope for the other person to direct your shot.
The info was mentioned in "Illustrated Manual of Sniper Skills" By Mark Spicer, it is mentioned on page 223.

Good Luck and Good Hunting

I think the off set scope or the video scope will be the best solution. I was almost certain the scope I mentioned earlier had a video out put for real time viewing.

I though it was the Bushnel that you mentioned earlier but maybe I was mistaken and there are no output cables for a portable DVD player of computer.

What about that mini camera idea? I was thinking... which is usually my downfall... but what if you mounted a minicam on a set of adjustable scope rings, created a set of cross hairs on the lense and then you could adjust it like a scope. Those minicams do have a live feed for a small monitor, maybe a 2'' screen. With some practice on the range I'm sure you could get this to work.

Just some thinking outside the box.

Again, good luck and keep us up to date.

the link is to a supporting dealer FYI

this product is very exensive but would allow your hunting partner to view on a small monitor your exact scope picture and tell you when your on target

you would most likly have to hunt from a blind as dogged hunts would have slighly more risk and issue's with short time to get on sigh similar to hunting doves only your shooting at a deer

it's also quite possible that you might be able to use special sights such as thermals as an aid again though very expensive

as far as a blind person ebing able to shoot i know one woman who does archery and is legaly blind and is very good at it

good luck on your hunt i hope it works out for you
