After about a solid month or more of -25C temps and winds pushing the temps down to -40 to -50C, I have had enough of the cold and snow.
On the weekend, a buddy and I hit Nokomis. Could only drive in to about the 600 yd mark due to snow drifts so we hicked in from 600 to the berm and setup a target, hicked back, drove back to 1000 and fired away. It was nice and sunny at the start and the wind was about NW15 (Nokomis range faces North) so only needed about 6 moa for the wind. Then a front moved in, the wind swung and picked up to W25. Added another 11 moa for the wind and hit my mark again. It was fun, cold and windy and the company was great, but ..... I hate the snow and the cold. (I also hate the sun and the heat with my MS so I guess I'm hupped eh)
That said, I'm driving end of this month 2700 km (one way) down to the Can-Am match down in SloughHouse CA, which is part of a set of matches the Yanks call March Madness. It may rain on me there but WTF eh, better than this cold. Already got my BATF Form 6 approved and my Alaskan "hunt'n lic." in hand so I'm good to go. I hear it is 64F down there and they have been getting rain and clouds as of late. This is a good thing, it helps keep the temp down some but allows the Joaquin Valley Fever fungus spores to become airborne. Look that one up Valley Fever.. a good bud died from it, at this same match a few yrs back. He was one of the unlucky ones that the fever does not show like a fever, docs missed it, and he died. Maybe I should dawn one of those doc masks like the people in Toronto wear in the summer for the smog.. LOL, but it may help keep the spores out of my lungs.
I looking so forward to getting out of the cold, I feel like a kid waiting for Xmas LOL
