Touch hole liner pressures?

at the very surface of the barrel they would be close to chamber pressure but drop rapidly since they are not contained. Enough to hurt thick skin for several inches out and still enough powder residue to be annoying at 10 feet.

My wife took a video of me shooting my old Mountain rifle, and it showed the smoke leaving the touch hole just before the smoke came out the muzzle. It looked cool. This is a short animation she made.

Depending on the size of the hole it can be downright painful a good 10 or 12 feet away!

Always watch for flinters at a busy BP shoot! I know one fellow with a few odd black tattoos on his face from being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
