My Mosin Nagant and SVT-40 have scratches on them and I was wondering if there was any way to touch them up with out having to redo the whole stock. They are not as deep as they look. Also near the end of my SVT-40 stock the finish is wearing off too.

This is normal appearance of these rifles. Don't have to do anything, just get some oily rug and rub the stock with it few times. After a while the scratches will disappear. Mosins and svt's are finished with shellack and it will scratch or peel if its too dry. To avoid this do the above and finish will blend and sort of heal itself.

Yeah surface shellac scratches will almost always occur with these rifles. Especially were bands get removed and bolts rest against during storage.
I use gun oil on them. Hoppes is clear but Outers has a gold tinge to it and seems to help a bit.

X2... It's how they were made. Try to leave the as original as possible IMHO...

Thanks for all the input everyone! Decided to rub gun oil on them with a rag and they are looking good, scratches are still visable but the rifles look much "healthier" :) Thank you all!
