It has been a tough year on mountain hunters and guides. I'm not certain I can remember a season with so many tragic deaths. A friend's Son-In-Law was the latest. R.I.P.

RCMP, Coroner Investigate Death of Hunting Guide Near Kemano

Kitimat RCMP and the BC Coroners Service are investigating the death of a hunting guide near Kemano.

Police say they received a report of a Satellite Personal Beacon activation along the Kemano River, at around 8:50 last night.

Information was received indicating the man had fallen off a cliff.

The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre at Comox activated a squadron to help in the rescue attempt -- but the man was already dead by the time he was located at 8:40 this morning.

He's been identified as a 26-year-old Alberta resident, but his name isn't being released at this time.

On November 10, 2014 at 8:48 pm, the Kitimat RCMP was advised of "SPOT" (Satellite Personal beacon) activation up the Kemano River near Kitimat.

Information was received that a hunting guide had fallen off a cliff.

The Joint Rescue Command Center out of Comox, activated a rescue squadron to assisted with the rescue – recovery.

On November 11th 2014 at 8:40 am, the guide was located but it was learned he had tragically succumbed to his injuries at scene. The deceased is a 26 year old male resident of Alberta.

The Kitimat RCMP are continuing to work in partnership with the BC Coroner’s Office regarding this investigation.

The name of the deceased will not be released pending notification of next of kin.

Terrible loss - sounds like he LOVED what he was doing, and many people don't get the opportunity to have a job they love and are passionate about. Just awful for the family, especially since he was working for his father-in-law... there will be tough days ahead for that family. Prayers and thoughts going out to them...
 
Sorry, I'm of the opinion that if you perish doing something you love, it's not a bad thing. Sure beats dying in a hospital bed hooked up to tubes or having a stroke that leaves you a human vegetable.

Yeah, a tragic accident for sure...it hits close to home for me as its only 20 or so miles from my last years goat draw area.
