Hi All,

I have a Toz 34R that shoots well for me. However the geometry of it and I are not the best of friends.
Any place in the Ottawa Area (Say Montreal to Toronto) that would be a good place to get it modded to better fit me.

Thanks all.

Well if I shoot more then two rounds of Clays with it I tend to get a black eye. It is kind of an abusive relationship I have with this OU.

Do you have contact info for Vic?

That being the case, the gun is not even close to fitting you. I would seriously consider another gun that is a better fit before investing money in a lower priced gun, but if you insist on going through with the mods, Vic does great work. Unfortunately, I have misplaced his contact info.

Try putting two flat washers between the recoil pad and the butt stock on the top screw. See if that makes a difference. This will change the pitch on the gun. That is usually the problem with shotguns beating up your face. If that helps, try one washer and then three. This is a temporary fix and you shouldn't shoot the gun like that for very long. If this fixes your problem, then you can cut the stock to get the proper pitch or you can also buy spacers.

I have Vic's contact information ... PM me and I can give it to you.

I had no idea what a Toz34 was so I googled it. At under 7 pounds and with that much drop at heel I can see why you are getting beat up. Sorry to say but shotguns of that design type are meant as hunting guns plain and simple. You are not doing yourself any favours by trying to shoot large volumes of ammo through a gun designed as a throw up to your shoulder to fire at game occasionally type gun. That design would beat you up severely in waterfowling too especially given the larger loads required and increased volume of shooting compared with upland. I would try the advice given and if that doesn't work seriously consider something a little more volume shooter friendly by design.

Time for something more suited to what you are trying to do, to modify it to shoot clay will cost you more than she's worth and more than you she can be replaced for.

By deal with it you mean continue to take a beating? Much better off my fellow CGn'r to let your wallet take the beating than your shoulder and bad habits this gun will produce trying to make do. Move on to a dedicated clays gun, you'll never be sorry.

But what if he was shooting clays in an effort to be a better hunter?

Splatter; Continuing to shoot a gun that hurts causes you to eventually develop a bad subconscious flinch, and that will cost you birds in the field just as fast as it does on the skeet field. I shoot slide-actions, most are field guns I shoot with the goal of bettering myself for upland season here, I've had to trade a couple over the years, nice SXS's, because I couldn't shoot them enough on the skeet field to get competent with them. I have currently 4 guns I shoot regularly, 2 are my "field guns"(Ithaca 37 Featherlight Full choke and Remington 870 Express), all have almost identical stock dimensions, pattern almost exactly with the POI. An extra Ruffed Grouse or Varying Hare per season is my end goal, so even my 2 lighter field guns get shot once a month at least 2 rounds for this reason. I put the volume of targets through my 2 "target" guns(Benelli Nova & Winchester Model 12), I shoot more skeet than trap, I shoot 5-Stand when I can. I shoot 1Oz loads #9 for skeet, #8 for everything else at 1180-1200fps, and I typically shoot between 3 and 8 rounds a week. I have shot a 24/25 with all of them on the skeet field at least once, I haven't missed a Hare running in 3 years. A nice gun that doesn't fit you and worse hurts you, will not provide you with a clean kill in the field. He's due to trade for something else.

Thanks all for the input.

Couple of things.

Yes I know this is more of a hunting shotgun then a Clays or skeet gun.
I maybe shoot 4-5 rounds a year. Think the most was 10.

I use this gun for upland game as it is nice and light and points well for me.

My main goal is to get it so it is less abusive without buying a new one.

Fwiw....
Toz shotguns are NEVER pretty.
Functional and almost indestructible.
Spending money on upgrading one (which is perfectly functional) is akin to putting lipstick on a pig.
Superb mission driven Russian technology.
Woth every penny you paid.
Certainly not my choice........
However.... If you ever run into a Tula choked MU6.... I will buy it in a heartbeat.
Enjoy it to death.
