Toz-78 available again in Canada

If I had to guess who's importing them, I would say Baikal Canada, but it could be another source. For the price listed though I would probably get a Savage or a Marlin instead.

Have one. It's the TOZ 78-01L with schnabel forend and Bavarian style cheek piece. All standard accessories. Baikal Canada is importing. An 11mm to Weaver rail adapter made by B-Square is available for $29.99. This is the same rail that was developed by them for the Remington Spartan and Winchester Wildcat lines and now also sold through Baikal here.

Do you know if they be purchased from Baikal Canada directly (for less than $220?) or is Ellwood Epps the only option?

My recollection is that they were $120 (w 4 mags) last time around... I missed them the first time and have been waiting for over a year for them to show up again - there's been no sign of the Winchester Wildcat being available anywhere soon either so... I may have to suck it up and fork out the $220. Who sells those B-Square adapters?

Where did you find info about the Winchester Wildcat being available? I don't see anything relevant to the TOZ-78 or the Wildcat on Baikal's website...

I bought one for $120 with the 4 mags (2-5rd and 2-10rd), however i believe the reason they were so inexpensive was the fact that armrus was going out of business/needed to liquidate stock and was selling them at cost (probably). Oh, forgot to mention that i bought the toz-99 (semi auto version)

$220 is not a bad price for a nice bolt action .22

BTW I also had the unfortunate happen to me, i.e. the exctractor spring got all fubar'ed so now i'm stuck with a single shot semi auto, lol

Might head down to princess auto to try and find a spring that could possibly work.

I also have a Toz-78. Did they change something? I thought the mounts were actually around 9mm, not the 11mm European size.

The regular price at Armrus was $199. The "going out of business" price was $100.

So, at $220, it's in the same ballpark as a Savage Mark II. Except you can get parts and mags for the Savage.

That's what I think too. Marlin also makes some good gun's for under $200.

The $100 price on the Toz was a good deal but for over $200, probably not.

Outside of job-related shooting, I've been putting more mileage on my Toz-78 than any other firearm in the stable these past few months. 100m, Iron Sights (ok, plastic, but), the small shoot-n-see sticker targets on a cardboard box, and I can entertain myself for hours shooting ever tighter little groups. Very relaxing. Love the accuracy, LOVE the trigger, love the four mags, love the full size stock.

$225 seems quite fair. IMO, The blowout price at Armrus should be filed away and forgotten looking forward, I don't ever want to rely on gun shops closing to get a good deal.

$100 was a good deal, I bought 2.
The fit and finish does not justify a $200 pricetag IMHO and even though I like it alot and it's a great shooter, I would probably balk even if they were $150......

eos,

Is this how the stock of your Toz-78 looks like

The Armrus 100$ price tag was a long time before he was closing up shop. It wasnt a going out of business sale until maybe 2-3 months before closing. And the real out of business sale was done out of the owners house pretty much.
