What's everyone's experience with the TPS rings, steel or aluminum? Are people satisfied with them or what kind of problems have you had with them. Wondering if I should buy them or spend more money on something better. Thanks in advance for your input.

They will work fine for 99.9 % of applications unless you toss your stuff out of a helicopter. I've used them for years on everything from 223 to 338RUM's without any issues.

OK, I'll be the odd man out but I had problems with the only set of steel TPS rings I've owned. They looked good, price was reasonable but they persisted in slipping no matter what I did. I tried the clamp one side method, the clamp both sides method, tried lapping them, all to no avail. Eventually threw them away, when the constant slipping finally pissed me off for the last time. I did talk to one other guy with the same issue and he never got to the bottom of it either. What I do know for sure is switching to Mark 4 rings solved whatever problem was causing it. Some mysteries will remain mysteries I guess.
