Tracer ammo

Does anyone have an official source that says tracers are not prohibited. I had discussion today at work with the "gun guy" and he was convinced that they are prohibited even though I showed him the criminal code firearms section that says ignites on impact.

theres yer answer. if it was illegal, it would be in the code. if its not, your good to go. ask him to show you where it says they ARE illegal. make a bet out of it, you'll win :D

Remind him that, for the most part, gov'ts in "free" countries don't write laws telling you what is LEGAL, they usually write legislation saying what is ILLEGAL...

...although the way it's going lately in the UK, US and Canada, it just might be easier if they just listed what is still legal!

The ONLY small-arms round that I know of that either ignites or explodes on impact, is the "raufoss"(sp?) .50BMG round anyway ..... Everything else seems to ignite well before impact.

NRCAN has decided that tracer and frangible ammo are not suitable for sporting purposes and therefore will not approve any for import. No they are not illegal.
