Two thumbs up !!! :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana:

These barrels are one of the nicest I have seen in terms of quality and constructional details. They look virtually identical to a USGI barrel, except for the length - 18.750" - making them non-restricted.

A trip to the range today proved that they not only look good, they shoot good too. I tried a few different ammo combinations, reloads and commercial, and all seemed to perform quite well. Under less than ideal conditions, and using a carpet covered wood block instead of my bench rest, twenty five yard groups averaged around 1"; fifty yard groups about 2 1/4". (5 shot groups).

A worthwhile improvement to that "shooter grade" or "previously bubba'ed" M1 carbine.

Sounds great, can you describe the steps to install the barrel, did you do it yourself or get a gunsmith to do it?
I take delivery of a carbine this week, will have to look it over to see if it's a collector or not, it's an Inland, looked to be in great shape...:dancingbanana:
If it doesn't turn out to have collector value I might switch the barrel as well to get it unregistered.

Cheers,
Mike

Heh, don't worry, if things check out I won't wreck it. I have weird information on the gun, the guy told me it was an International, siad it was a universal carbine and was non-restricted. I saw it the same time as over 20 othersand didn't look too close, but saw the registration as non-restricted. When we went to transfer the CFC changed it to restricted, apparently it does have a barrel less than 470, the guy siad the card also said that  must be grandfathered to the owner?
Anyway, I never looked it over good, am getting it cheap enough to take it regardless and was in a rush when I saw it... but i did see Inland on the reciever, and the serial number is in the right range for that. the barrel is a wild card to me, and I have no idea if other parts match or not. I assumed, due to condition of the wood and finish, that it was redone, and it might well be, but a while ago the guy said there's a "brand" in the butt stock, i'm hoping it's a cartouche. I never even looked for one as the wood looks so clean. Sorry for the restricted vs registered, brain fart

I'll find out first of next week what I've got, just got my restricted lic. last week and can transport it Monday. I've never been so eager for the weekend to be over...

cheers,
Mike
