How are the 525$ shipped mosins from Tradex? Really scratching my chin on whether or not I want to purchase one. How's the quality? Lots of pitting? Just some general info on the quality of them would be wicked.

For those wondering, here's the deal mentioned. https://www.tradeexcanada.com/content/mosin-m9130-rifle-and-440rd-can-prc-762x54r-surplus-ammo-free-shipping-offer

Thanks in advance.

I bought one last year with a laminated stock
There description stated the rifle had some wear/pitting and it indeeed did
The butplate was fairy heavily pitted and the top of the bolt had some too
The barrel was in beautiful shape it looked brand new!

Personally I find that Tradex rifles are in much better shape than advertised. They are very conservative when describing them. Never had a problem with them.

Personally I find that rifles from Tradeex are hit and miss even the new ones. Description on condition seem to be made up by rough visual inspection only. Reports about unsafe firearms being shipped out by them too on here. Better ask twice at that price.

Tradex is a responsible dealer. If you receive a firearm from them that you feel is unsafe, they will take it back with a full refund and shipping on their dime.

Those Mosins are pretty much as described, FIELD GRADE. FIELD GRADE means used/abused/worn/mixmasters, examined/repaired accordingly and still considered to be safe, capable and within acceptable specs to perform their duty on the battlefield they are qualified for. DON'T EXPECT ANYTHING ELSE.

If you get one of the cleaner, maybe even all matching rifles, BONUS. If you get a rifle with a 90% or better bore, BONUS.

Several years ago, I went through the Anniston CMP distribution center, with a friend that volunteered at the facility. Nice guy and very knowledgeable on US military firearms repairs, etc.

When I was there, they were working on a few M1 Garands, which were in short supply, to fill orders from qualified persons. All of the rifles were FIELD GRADE. All were serviceable. All were mixmasters, all were well used and showed it. The armorers checked the throats, bores, muzzles for wear with hand held gauges. Several were being set aside for the FAIR ONLY RACK in the sales room. All of the FAIR grades needed small parts or stock repairs. All FAIR grades would have been safe to shoot. Then there was a small bin of rifles being set aside, to be stripped for usable parts.

The grades ABOVE field grade, started at twice the price of field grade, right up to collectible and auction status.

Tradex isn't offering FTR rifles that used to be the norm. These are LESSER GRADE and as the Mosins seem to be drying up in Canada presently, they are priced accordingly. Likely with about the same profit margin of previous rifles. They're getting to be more expensive and difficult to get out of Europe as well. The surplus stocks will dry up, if they haven't already.

If you want one of the Tradex Mosins, give them a call. Talk with Anthony or his Dad and ask them to pick out one of the better rifles. They're usually pretty good about that.

You may also want to try Weimajack, another paying dealer, whose ads appear in the yellow tinted threads in the EE section. He often has some decent, matching examples but they will be more expensive than the Tradex offerings, as condition warrants.

I really don't think they strip down every rifle or shoot them, for the amount they carry in stock.
I have bought lots from them, not these , but every thing has been as described or usally better than what I thought.
Anthony will send you pictures of a gun if you want, as on the web site ,just the one side is shown.
if you think it is wrong, he will make it right.

Hey man, I really appreciate the info dump! I've sent them an Email right now inquiring, but included a PS stating to take their time, I bet they're absolutely swamped with this Covid madness.

I have usually been happy with the descriptions on used firearms listed on Tradex. The one problem I had was a defective new firearm, I had to pay shipping to send it back, lost 45 bucks on that deal.

That price included around 200$ value 440 rounds. 325$ for rifle with tax only and no shipping is a good deal. Call Anthony, he may pick up a better one.

The fan boys jumped on this one right away, lol, despite dozens of post on CGN to the contrary what they say.
If I sell something not as described or blatantly misrepresented on the EE and tell the buyer to send it back on their own dime like TEC does to some of their customers, the lynch mob would be all over it. But it's OK for TEC to do so because they are a high volume dealer and don't have the time, bla, bla.... Way to go fan boys.

Sin on EE is very hard punished.

Not sure what you're talking about. Has that been your personal experience??? It certainly hasn't been mine.

I bought an SKS from them that was advertised as new. The rifle came with a pitted bore and a new stock, packed in grease.

I called them up and spoke with Tony. He was very understanding and told me to ship the rifle back to him. He also told me that I would see a refund on my Visa for the cost of the rifle and shipping.

It took a couple of weeks for the rifle to get there and be inspected. Tony called me and asked what I wanted to do. I told him to send me another NEW SKS, if they had any left. He then told me that he would either reimburse my shipping costs or send me a voucher for future purchases. I told him to throw in some other stuff he had available at the time.

Got the new SKS, and the other stuff, along with a Vz58 bayonet new in wrap "for my troubles."

I've known and dealt with Tony, long before his son got involved. I've dealt with them after Tony stepped back from the helm and they've always been ethical.

Maybe your experience was different. Maybe you handled things in a manner that irritated them??? Maybe not??

I’m not a “fan boi” but they are the only website i know of that has pics of the actual individual rifle in their listings. Each rifle is listed and has pics of the actual rifle described. I’m not sure how you get something you didn’t expect when you can view the exact rifle on the website. All their descriptions appear to be representative of the item when compared to the pic. I have scrolled through their site for hours looking at the individual rifles before I made my choice.

i ve dealt with the father Tony and the son and never an issue.

when i had an issue with the zastava 9.3x62 during the test Anthony offered to take it back while the rifle was purchased way over 2 years ...

finally it was not the rifle: but just that was way above any can believe about customer service.

so i do not know your experience riverrest but they gain a customer for life.

I’ve bought several firearms from Tradex in the past, and have never been disappointed. They were usually in better condition than they were described on their website. (“Good” looked “Excellent “ to me)
