trading my norinco m305 for weatherby vangaurd

was trying to sell my Norinco M305... guy offered to trade me his stainless weatherby vangaurd in .243 winchester.. i have been looking for a scoped deer gun.. he says gun will do 1"grups at 100 yards... i know nothing of these guns and just a little about the caliber.. just want some input if its a good trade... i dont use the M305 much so wont really miss it... any advice would be great

I think it's a good trade, if 243 is a caliber that will work for you. Vanguards are known to be accurate dependable hunting rifles.

Are you a handloader ? If so a 243 can be a sweet little round to work with.
My Vanguard S2 is new and still breaking in but fireform loads are easily sub-inch with a couple half-inch or a touch less.

I think is a good trade, the vanguards have a good rep,
The .243 is a suitiable caliber for deer, and smaller game, its light recoil, makes it easy to shoot well, and is very common, and won't be a problem to resell, should you wish to.
It is perhaps, on the light side, for elk and moose. But will do the job, with a well places shot.

Depends how much tacticool you've done to your M305 but I'd be inclined to take the trade in your situation. You need a deer rifle and the Vanguard will fill that need, though not as well as other chamberings might. Just remember you'll still be out cash to add a scope.
