Traditions ML Info needed

Trying to find a little information . Just purchased a Traditions II XLT 28 inch barrel . Will this rifle handle 150gr charges ? The only model I can find that says it handles 150 grain charges is the Traditions Pursuit Pro .

You may find that your rifle may only have nominal accuracy with 150 grains, but can clover leaf with 95-100 grains. Finding out is the fun part.

It will handle 150 charges but I find 80 to 100 is plenty. My best accuracy is 90gr loose 777 powder and a 250 gr hornady sst. Consistant under 3' at 100 meters.

Despite some of the nasayers, some of us enjoy the long-range aspect of muzzleloading and routinely shoot 150-grain loads. The need comes with your shooting and hunting style. Sitting in a deer blind in Ontario there likely is no need for a 150 grain charge but when hunting for sheep in the mountains or mule deer on the prairies, it can make good sense. As for accuracy, many muzzleloaders shoot 150 grain loads well......it's more a matter of finding a bullet that can handle the speed!

Traditions will tell you that you can shoot 150 grains of black powder or pyrodex. If you use Triple Seven cut back to 130 grains only. Be safe than sorry.
