Intro:
I recently purchased (impulsed) a muzzle loader. I went with the Traditions Yukon. The feel, the size, and price is what sold me. Also, I've been told they shoot really well. So obviously, I had to acquaint myself with the gun before taking it hunting.

Getting Started:
I picked up some 777 pellets and some hornady 300 sst's . Using the open sights and 100gr of powder, it took me three shots to dial her in shooting high at 25yards.

100yds:
I found the sights to be sub par at best as they are bulky making it difficult to aim at a specific point on the paper. So I had to aim for the entire target and hope for the best. I was shooting 6.5 to 7.0inch groups At 100 yards. Not too bad considering. It will drop a deer no question! A scope will tighten things up dramatically.

Observations:
This gun needs a scope!
The sights are not the greatest
RAM rod is on the short side (I'm not a fan of the extension)
Scope rail taps are very short. meaning the screws on all rails will have to be shortened in order to fit.

Conclusion:
It's a $150.00 gun that will do the job. There is some engineering hits and misses. All and all, the pros out weigh the cons. The scope should get me to 150yards which is all I'll ever need for deer hunting.

Good luck with your new rifle. I looked at them on the internet and thought they looked good, but a few reports on them where not very positive. If you really want accuracy I would get some powder, so you play with the load more, 80 or 90g might be a lot better accuracy wise.

Funny Peckerwood, I was thinking the same. Yukon.com is GM, that is just wrong! Never heard of the Traditions Yukon either, might be worth having one, I'm not buying the truck though.
